Ok........In the thread "Of Two world's" is the story of Uesuki Shinju who is the daughter of Uesuki Tatsuo.

I am playing Shinju on the NWN world Harrowport.

Max my friend is playing her sister, Siora. Siora got herself in a bit of trouble. Another girl ummm had relations with her. which is not usually a problem, but something was, let us say broken in the process. Which is a huge problem for a daughter of a samurai.

They find a man Siora can marry so that no one in the family will ever know she lost her virginity (so to speak)

The man is a westerner and an elf. Shinju plans to marry them before anyone in the family can investigate but Siora sent off letters to the family. Siora is also a hummingbird. Which complicates matters all the more because the Hummingbirds are a group of Onna-bugeisha/Onna-Musha that are under the direction of the emperor himself. Her father Tatsuo is the only male in the unit.

Siora sent off three letters and got responds from them. Here they are. The later events will be written in Shinju's thread but I'm putting the letters and responses here.

Siora's letter to her father:


I hope this letter finds you well.

I have found Shinju after months of searching where her ship went down. She is on a land a few miles away.
She is doing well and speaks of building a monastery. Her training of mind and body is beautiful, and you should be proud.

I am happy to report that I found her in good health and talking to the spirits of this place even so far from home.

I wish I could be there to tell you that I will not be the same if I return to home, I will miss this place and specifically one amongst any other who helps me ground myself.

I am afraid to inform you I have lost myself in infatuation of someone and would like your blessing if possible.
I wait for your response and wisdom in these matters before I tell more on this subject.

If able I would like to help my sister with her monastery and help protect her and any who would wish to find a path of enlightenment.

Her father's response in letter:


Dear Siora,

I am glad that you have found Shinju. I worried as a father should for her health and safety. It is a shame that I had to disown her to maintain Clan and Family honor. It was the hardest choice in my life to make. One to which I will ever regret making. Building a monastery in the western world would be a high achievement. Once it is build, I will be the very proud of her.

The rest of your letter reads like a legal document carefully prepared to hide something. Perhaps something obvious. Siora, how many times have I told you of the evils of the west. They are a barbaric and uncultured people. And by what I have read you seem to have been seduced by the seeming freedom of western lands to do as you choose. You have taken away my right to marry you into a good family and clan that would nurture your honor and soul. I am disappointed. I should have taken Takara’s advice and married you at 16 or 17. This was my fault and my weakness for I did not want to lose my last daughter after having to give up Shinju.

This sentence: If able I would like to help my sister with her monastery and help protect her and any who would wish to find a path of enlightenment truly frightens me, Siora. It tells me you want to give up your commission within the unit to which I myself lead into battle. Siora, you do this you will have to give up your kaiken. You do understand that do you not?
If you marry without my blessing, you and our entire family will lose honor. If you give up your commission, there is no way I can help you. You will lose all that I and others have put into you. You do understand you are breaking Bushido with this act.

Still, you are my daughter and do what I can not only to save face for you and the family but to make sure some of your status is maintained and you have a chance to keep what you have. You will have my blessing once I know all there is to know about this unknown person. Linage, status, honor and other achievements. I hope this person is not a criminal or an individualist as is so common in the west.

I also want to hear from. Never mind she loves you even more than I do and will be plotting most likely. I still want to hear from her.

Once I know about this person, I will give you my blessing if satisfied that all is well. On the resigning of your commission. There may be a court case to sort this all out, that is if Takara doesn’t get involved and that is highly unlikely. I cannot defend you being your father, but I have some very good colleagues that may.

I hope this is worth the risk you are taking. I was young once too, I understand. The fire burns hot in the loins at your age. I will do what I can because you are my daughter and I love you with all my heart as a father

I apologize it has been some time I had to get used to the company of this land.

I am pleased to report that Shinju and I are in good health, and she is enduring and learning even as much as I have been in my training.

I have found some forges here to expand the armory and make many katanas and wakizashi.

I have found however a small problem in my time here and in that a man who wishes to give me a ring.

He is a master craftsman whose trade goes from blades and armor to pendants and rings to protect people.

I wish to remain at this time to do the justice this land needs for the many evils and possible explore a potential husband who could care for children into the future if that is a possibility.

I await your response in time.

He is a strong elf and is compassionate for his craft which I have found similar to our arts in war.

Siora's letter to her mother, Drasta:

Mother I have done something to break tradition and am unworthy of status of father's line and do not know what I should do.

I have given myself to a wonderful woman and am broken and full of shame. I do not wish for her to feel the shame in what I had offered to her freely, it is not her shame to feel for me.

I have sent a letter to father but not spoken directly of what happened if you could understand.

I have found a woman here who I have loved and fallen in some way for and feel I have not honored the ways and the family at home. It pains me to send this to you and only you with these words. The woman feels shame, yet it was my choice to let this happen and I felt it was right. I do not understand why or how I feel this way only that I know I have been alone so long. I have been able to pull grandmothers swords from their place I am slowly understanding the burning in my blood. I only fear that those at home will never forgive my actions. Please tell father I am sorry for breaking myself.

My child… Through the turning of countless seasons, I have watched you grow, and though twilight has brushed our path more than once, I give thanks that your sylvan spirit has taken root and blossomed. Long before you knew the shape of your destiny, I wove certain truths into your being. For this reason, I must offer you my apology—for the veiled silence surrounding your unbound hand. Our kind do not move through time as mortals do, even though your blood carries both your father’s warmth and my own ancient strain.

I see now that you have drawn Miwa’s blades. That is no small thing. Those blades stir to the harmony of your lineage—to the purpose braided into your blood since before you first opened your eyes. I will speak with your father and your aunt regarding the pact I entrusted to Miwa when she accepted guardianship of a formal child, back when young Tatsuo was far too tender to hear the whispers of the paths that awaited him.

Your daughter, Siora, has proven herself a woman of grace, strength, and keen spirit. In her I have found wisdom that rivals the elders of my clan, courage worthy of song, and a heart that stands firm against both hardship and fear. Such qualities are rare gems, and I would be honored beyond measure to walk beside her through the long years granted to our kind.

By the laws of my people and in accordance with ancient custom, I humbly request Siora’s hand in marriage, seeking your blessing and consent before all else. No union is forged without the approval of family, for marriage is not merely a bond of two souls, but a joining of bloodlines, histories, and futures.

A letter comes in by ship to Harrowsport and is delivered to the Grove behind the Waterfall addressed to Duncan Dawnhammer.

Greetings Duncan Dawnhammer and be at peace,


I am Taiyo No Shizu Kesa, Siora’s father. I am sorry but there has been some confusion here amongst those of her relatives. Siora’s commander and Aunt’s letter mentions an elf and Her mother’s letter mentions a woman. I must say as a lawyer I see some shenanigans being played out there. As a father I am unsure what to think.

Be that may, I made a promise to Siora’s mother not to interfere with our daughter’s affairs of love and life. It is also one of the many reasons she has remained unwed. I had every right to have her wed at 14 or 16 but knowing she is my only daughter, I gave her deference and hoped she chose wisely.

You do have the clans blessing Lord Dawnhamer. You also have her mother’s blessing. You also reluctantly have my own blessing. Siora comes from a very long line of samurai, however there have been western nobility that have mingled and added their blood to our family. Hojo Miwa’s second husband was a lord of Telflamm. Siora’s mother is an elf and Shinju’s is an ocean spirit.

Thus, you have my blessing, and the blessing of many of the family. Some however in the family will not add theirs. Much training and guidance has been put into Siora. She has a place and a commission in a special unit of imperial forces.

I have done all that I can with regard to repairing the damage that she has done. She will in fact keep her nobility, however she has lost her commission in the special unit for dereliction of duty. Now free from the imperial unit she may live her life in the west free from obligation.

We accept your dowry 5 million in coin. We only ask one other thing. Should you have daughters, one is obligated to make the journey to Kozakura to be trained as Siora was and be welcomed into a special imperial unit which shall not be named if she does not die in the training period. This daughter should be sent at between 5 and 8 years old.

This is an old tradition of our family that every descendant of Hojo Miwa owes a daughter to Emperor and country. I hope you understand. Again, you have my blessing to marry Siora.
