The Sword Saint

Postby Winterhawk99 » Mon Jan 17, 2011 2:19 am

Hesserian stormed out of the council chamber angry, defeated and dishonored. She had lead her people out of the darkness and into the light. She had conquered the orcs of the mountains with her small army and turned them into slaves. She prepared her people for the offworlders, even welcomed a new house Cassiopeia and her father had lingered here many months before a chance meeting with her sister drove them away.

Hesserian former head of the Brek'thrine council remembered their first meeting well. The things they told her. Araushunee did not exist. There were a handful of Elder fey' ri on a world they called Toril. How a villain called Ammothrawen once a personal guard of the goddess betrayed her people to work on the side of the Good gods.

Ah, That is now in the past but information she could someday use.

The council in its infinite wisdom took a vote of confidence and Dismissed her for the last decades failures. They said they needed new tactics of the younger leaders to quell this next threat. Kane a mercenary of legend had formed an army of Kenku to fight the orcs and take the hidden monastery. The stronghold in which now she stood.

Kane, She thought, Kane would bring much to bear on their small force. He had no love for anyone or anything. His name was destruction and chaos itself. Now that she was demoted and unlikely to bear any more children she could leave the family or set off on her own. possibly challenge one of the Tansue or the Makune. It would be a fitting end to end one of these traitors to the race or fight until she died by their hands. Better another sword master than a mass of heathen humans or other races that scar the surface of Sierra Na. There was one thing she might be able to do. That is go for help. There may be a way. She did not know if she was ready yet, but she would try.

Hesserian opened her door and went to the master bedroom. She ignored the guard and slaves about her. She undressed out of her formal gown and started to strap her armor. As she did she made preparations in her head. What was likely to be a force to stop her to the Prime shimmer? The Tansue, Sensai Makune, Haakons and the Forest maiden. The trolls and others were no real threat. The Tansue have not been active. It was spied that the head of the family has taken a dark elven wife and will not fight until He bore a child. Sensai Makune was reported to be quietly raising her child in the Tangwetsyl village and rarely stepped on her own. So most likely She need not fear for the other master Samurai in the area. That left Haakons and the Forest maiden. The forest maiden took out all evil within the elven woods. She was known to have died and come back changed by her spirits experiences in the outer planes. She shot first and asked questions later if anyone disturbed the forest. Haakons patrols to the south of the forest were not lax. rangers and paladins guarded to the boarder to the Great Savanna. Neither choice she liked. Both held their own dangers. She decided to wait for a break in Haakons guard movements rather than the forest maiden. She could avoid the patrols but the maiden would smell her out.

She belted her weapon on the armor and unsheathed it. Electrical charges danced along the blade. She felt herself within the blade. Her very spirit forged into the bright blade by her dead ancestors as she completed the ceremony of life and death. As all Elder fey'ri Samurai do, she touched the scar that cleaved her breastbone when she drove it threw her heart, when she thought about that dread day she was tested. Nothing in an Elder Fey'ri's life ever matches that one moment of clarity.

She sheathed the sword and picked up her pack as the new head of council came into the lavish apartment. No words were spoken. They did not need to be. Her time had come to an end. So said the council. It was His turn. As she walked out the door she handed him the keys to the apartment and left.

She made it past the guard patrols of Haakons and moved north along the edge of the elven forest. She then backtracked to near the mines the gnolls control. There she waited until dark. Several travelers came down the road toward Morzelmore. Only one looked around for the brimstone smell that lingered in the air. Fortunately they did not look up for She had nested in a tree waiting for dark. Dusk came she waited for the moon to rise to its zenith until she glided down to the ground between two gnolls. With one swift move their heads were lopped off before they knew there was someone between them. She then jogged to the Vales area. There just across the road from the rangers house stood the Prim shimmer. The alchemist was indoors. The warblade came to investigate. She slide just outside the campfire so the girl could not see her form. She had prepared for this and had had her scales painted black just in case someone came near enough to spot her.

" Oh Sensai ti’s an honor how is the village?", The girl said. Quickly she replied, " The village is fine Kano and khan are well. I need to test something no need to leave your post." the girl hesitates but agrees, " Alright well met Amelia." Hesserian concludes the conversation, " Well met."

She watches the girl go back to her tent then rounds the edge of the light at camp to the shimmer. It is then she hears the voices.

"Hesserian Kator of house Brek'Thrine we see you. You are pure and ready for our journey." She hesitates and whispers, " what is the journey?" The voices start again clear cutting the song of tiamat from her ears. It is disturbing to her but she listens, " It is the great test of the shimmers, We individual.....together teach those ready to touch the planes. in time you will not need us. We are farriers and teachers children of the god Martec we await you." She shakes her head of the odd sensation and persists, " I need to get to a place called Toril." She listens, " Toril a good start. close to the center. know this Hesserian Kator of house Brek'thine. If you choose to journey you may never come back to sierra na. it is barred from you. It's secrets must not leave this place and if you ever mention the things that we show you the specifics you will be returned to this place not knowing where or when you have been. Those are the rules." she thought her head started to hurt, " What are the specifics?" Her head explodes with information about the rules she must follow feeding straight into her mind from the great device within a few seconds. The voices start again, " Have you made a decision?" She quickly said, "yes take me to Toril." When would you like to go to Toril?" That stopped her a moment. The legends did not say the shimmers were masters of time as well as space. She thought long and hard, " Take me to the day after you took Cassiopeia and her father." The was nothing for several seconds then the voices said, " We are ready. step into our light."

She steps in.

As she traveled to the shimmer she felt a tinge of power envelop her. A sense of the planes it wrapped around her like a shell. For a moment she was completely one with the universe. It was a fleeting moment of time, a chance to grasp the whole as a single entity. Then she was on a snow covered side of a mountain. She looked around and said," I am one with the universe." As she spoke forms came out of the snowing mist. What looked like pair of elves. She spoke to them in infernal. Obviously not understanding she moved to common. they argued then the figures attacked. She heard the voices," We protect you within our bounds student of shimmer but you must step outside and learn before we let you back." With that She raised her soul sword and unleashed her greatest ability.........a hellball." It stunned them long enough for her to take wing off the nearest cliff. From there she searched for the Nightsmith temple. She came across many of the inferior races. She questioned them then challenged them seeing what this new world was made off. All were defeated their lives forfeit; she crucified them to see how long they could hang on the pole before their lungs collapsed. She was not pleased most died within hours a weak and pathetic people. Eventually after enough duals and crucifixions she learned the whereabouts of the temple. She walked to the temple. The Nightsmiths would now have a new mistress or there would be no more Nightsmiths.
