Nora

She slammed the door in his face as she left their home. Her angry eyes filled with tears. He had shown his true self. There was no future for them. She had been torn out of her daydreams, out of her ignorant slumber.
She had saved his life, and she had believed he would thank her. But all he could think of was himself, and his pride and reputation. It was no marriage. To him she was nothing but a pretty doll. When they finally sat down and talked, all her pretty illusions had been torn apart.

She longed desperately for her children, and wondered what he had told them when she didn’t return to their home that day. She didn’t have the means to give them a home. After her father had died there was no family to go to. Her friends could not offer her what she needed now.

She needed work to make a living. She still had the strength and skill from what her father had taught her.
That morning her prayers went to Torm. She realized she had to fight for justice in her life and for a future with her loved ones.
She went to the Hall of the Radiant Heart. They would still remember her father’s name from the days when he served there. If only she could get a job. She could serve as a guard. That would at least be somewhere to start.

She nodded politely to the stern guards at the gate to the courtyard. She remembered the sweet smell of thyme from the well kept garden inside, and the cool shade by the stonewalls and under the trees. She remembered playing in the garden as a little girl visiting her father. The thought brought forth a warm sensation in her chest.

The gate was huge and black, large enough for a big wagon pulled by many horses. There was a smaller door that people could use to enter through the gate. She gripped the knob and pulled the door open.
She closed her eyes as she entered the door, and took a deep breath to inhale the sweet air.

She felt a tingling dizziness. The smell was not like she remembered it. It smelled more like the damp leaves covering the ground in a forest, together with the smell of burnt metal. And when she opened her eyes, she was almost blinded by sharp colored lights. There was no well kept, orderly courtyard before her. Instead she found herself in a forest, on a small platform in the middle of a clearing.

At first Nora was just surprised. How could she suddenly be in a forest? It took a while before it started to sink in what had happened. Could this be a portal? Had she been teleported somewhere? She had heard stories of mages and their feats, but she had never actually seen a portal before, and she couldn’t remember actually entering anything that looked different.
Her first impulse was to try to find out where she was and then find a way back home. She had a life. Things had become very difficult, but she was determined to make the best out of it. She had her three little children, Bob, Emmy and Ivar who meant everything to her.

When she asked about, she found out that several other people had come to this place called Sierra Na, just like she had. Some had been here for quite some time. Many wanted to go back, but no one had found a way yet.
This was very disturbing. Her thoughts went to her children who she knew would be missing their mother. She missed them too and often wept when she thought of how life was back in Athkatla. At night her prayers went to Torm. She wanted to go back so she could get a job at the Hall of the Radiant Heart and support and live with her children.

She soon got to know a lot of people. She spent much time with the half dragon kids Tralla and Trilla and their stepmother, the dark skinned elven paladin Tiberia, but also Melissa, Symrastar, Tabitha and many more.
She regularly patrolled the area near the Vales and the ranger cabin to keep the place safe from their evil neighbours.
With time her fighting prowess improved. She went on several expeditions to different parts of Sierra Na. Together with some friends she helped clear the tainted waters of Fenendor Bog, defeating the evil Dalph.
She also helped her friend Melissa find the legendary sword Sightblinder and free a Silver dragon deep down in the orc infested dwarven mines.

She felt that her prayers were answered and that Torm gave her strength and purpose and guided her with his wisdom. At some point she started to suspect that maybe there was a reason why she had been brought to this place, and that maybe her service was meant to be here in Sierra Na and not back in Amn. But the thought of her children still brought her pain.

She never gave up asking about. Her inquiries brought her to the Tangwystyl village and Tansu lands. She started to get a fragmented understanding of several things. Getting back from this place is extremely difficult. You either have to be walking the planes, or rely on some divine intervention. She followed both leads and realized how difficult it would be to be able to walk the planes. She learned about the Tansu family and their connection with Haakon. She was surprised when she discovered the role of Torm’s avatar here and his relation to Haakon. And she couldn’t understand what had forced Torm into such a subordinate position. She realized that it was important to support Haakon as Torms ally. She also found that Bahamut had much in common with Haakon and Torm, but the draconic aspect felt alien.
She also learned that the flux of time here on Sierra Na and back home could be very different, and that maybe she had only been away from her children a very short time, even though she had stayed here a year or two.
She prayed to Torm for help to return to her children, or for the children to come to her. Sometimes she could see them in her dreams. They were happy, and there was comfort in that.

With time she has become quite respected both as leader and warrior. She played a vital role when she led a band of adventurers down to Haakons keep and cleared out the the crypts and dungeons. She personally killed the lich that had summoned an army of undead to desecrate Haakons stronghold.
Finally the keep is safe.
