Coric Lane was on business in Morzelmore and decided to take a short break near the tree in the heart. As he was enjoying the day a well dressed and eloquent met him cordially and sat down beside him. They discussed many things. He found out the dragonkin's name was Baron Braxton as Braxton found out Coric's name. While discussing many topics Coric found out that the Baron was an armature archeologist always interested in digging up information on the golden age. They discussed a few things about the old age of man when Braxton came to the sword Doomgiver. They discussed the sword at length.

Baron Braxton had heard that someone was looking for the fabled sword and was interested in where to find it. He mentioned about an old archive Rock point had financed during the old age near the fernandor bog. The Baron admitted to Coric that in the past he had sent several expeditions into the swamp and none had returned. the two spoke a bit more and Coric agreed to find and scout this old ruin. The Baron promised to pay him well for going out in a dangerous place for him.

Coric started into the swamp. His step was brisk. He had some trouble with the great beasts of the swamp. The Crocodiles attacked him. Giant ticks clung on to him making him weak. He battled all of them along with the giant bog snakes and other mysterious things. His pace was very good and he found the Old Archive ruin with quickness. It was almost dawn when he arrived to find a woman up on the gate tower. She was dressed in Plate mail with a family crest upon it. She challenged him And asked his purpose. He told her the truth about his mission to find details on the sword Doomgiver. He also asked if she had seen dragonkin.

She considered his words while studying him. His manner and actions seemed to be proper so she asked for a banner of truce so she could speak with him below the gate. He obliged her. She opened a hatch upon the tower and disappeared. After a few moments the main gate came open and she walked out in a dress, Sword still buckled to her she fidgeted with it a moment trying to decide whether he would break the truce with her. As she was studying him more closely he studied her. She seemed beautiful and young. She wore a black dress with simple brown leather trim. She was pale as ivory and strangely had deep blood read eyes with blood red lips. Coric if he felt anything kept his own council and thoughts on her to himself.

She started. The first thing she said was that there were dragon like creatures here long ago along with a few others that came her way. They could not follow her rules so she had dispatched them. Coric got an odd creepy feeling in the back of his neck but he nodded. He asked her about Doomgiver. She told him to come back next nightfall with a live deer or cow. She told him it was for his own protection and that if he could follow her rules he would be safe from her and her followers. He reluctantly agreed telling her it would be hard to bring a live animal back to the keep. She ignored his protest and told him those were the rules. She also told him if he came back without one she would kill him. He reluctantly agreed and set off to find a swamp deer.

He started off to where he knew there was deer near the village then considering what it would take to get a live dear back to the keep in crocodile infested water thought better of it. He ventured north and found a village. At first it seemed abandoned but as he crossed one of the bridges he found a lone Lizard man. The lizard man greeted him as a soft belly Told Coric he was the chief and said his name was Talk with spirits. Coric took it all in stride and asked where the others were. The Lizard man said they had gone on hunt and wouldn't be back for a few days. Coric told him of his problem and the Lizard man agreed to help him. The lizard man told him to walk with him. They walked threw the village to a hut. Talk with spirits went in in moments came back out with rope and twine sticks and some large rocks. They went west to another part of the bog, encountered ticks which they dispatched quickly. Talk with spirits packed the giant ticks up to eat later. They set up the traps together and waited. While they waited The chief talked about the tribe and their gods to Coric. He didn't quite understand what the chief was saying. After an hour or so some swamp deer came up to the water to drink. Both Coric and Talks with Spirits waited quietly behind a tree. After a short time one of the deer hit a snare. The others scattered to the northeast running out of view. They covered the deer's eyes tied him up and went back to the village.

Coric grateful for the Chiefs help asked if there was anything he could do for him. The chief thought and told him the story of the weed people, how they occasionally raid the village and that he would like Coric to explore the territory of the weed people to see what they were up too. Coric agreed and headed west to the territory of the vegipygmy. Coric went to a place were there was a flooded village with a towering mansion on a hill. He waded threw the waist deep water to find only a few weedy creatures in his way. He killed the creatures and came back to the chief. He reported only seeing a few of these creatures which worried the chief. The Chief mentioned he hoped the hunters and weed people had not encountered each other. Coric thanked him and gave the Chief a figurine of a boar. The Chief gleefully accepted it and tested it right out. He set the statue on the ground and read the incantation on it. An astral boar appeared. They parted Coric taking the deer and going south. The chief waving him good day.

Coric went back to the ruin deer in tote. It was still hours before dark so he tied the deer to a post in front of the gatehouse and waited. When Evening came the mysterious woman returned. She checked on the deer then looked at him. She told him that he had done admirably and that she would speak to him on the battlement. He was to go threw the gatehouse into the keep turn right after the great hall and up the stairs at the end. At no point was he to venture anywhere else. Coric did as she asked.

When he reached the battlement, he heard the cry of an animal and then nothing. For near a ½ hour. Presently she came up to the battlement with him. Both greeted each other. He never found out her name for she would not give it to him. He only knew that she was mistress and protector of the archives. He wished to know about the 12 swords and especially Doomgiver. She explained to him that Doomgiver was the sword of justice and any who wielded it would be safe from enemy attack. She also told him the song of the swords. The song a poem hinted at what each of the twelve swords did and what their powers were. They were interrupted once by a ghoul asking the woman if they could hunt. The woman said to take the men that served her to the forest south of the swamp; There they would find plenty to hunt. Coric tried to ignore them as best he could. After the Ghoul left they continued their conversation. Coric was most anxious about the whereabouts of Doomgiver She said that Doomgiver was safe but would give him no more answer than that. They spoke of the current political situation, about the impending war between the Brekthrine and Kenku. The woman was distraught that the Tansue had not preformed their sworn duty and gotten rid of all other houses on the surface.

She was backward. Most of her memories had to do with the golden age rather than the current things going on in the world. Near sunrise she told him to leave. She said that if he stayed beyond the next sunset she would hunt him down. Coric took the threat seriously and parted with her and the ruin setting off twoard Morzelmore once more.

When Coric arrived at Morzelmore. The Baron was sitting back at the spot they first spoke. Coric told him of his adventure. The pair theorized about many things, especially the whereabouts of the sword.

Both felt that the woman had the sword and that she probably was a vampire. The Baron was most impressed by Coric's ability to survive both the swamp and her. They spoke about the three sides of the impending war. Each faction seemed to have it's interest in claiming all the Morzel Mountains for themselves. Baron wondered if the sword could be liberated from the Woman. Coric thought that might be a bad idea given its powers. The Baron agreed and explained to Coric that he hoped the fighting did not spill over to Morzelmore or Haakons. Baron Braxton then thanked Coric for his efforts and gave him an amulet. They parted Coric wondering about all that he heard that day.
