Hey, what's that ?
I thought a number of those were added to the CTP Forest set? I didn't test this one and RDX is currently working on it. Can Bannor or RDX confirm if these features made it into the forest set?
I only recall from similar screen shots when Acropole was a CTP member for a short time. Banshe was working with Jackel GB on the forest set. To far back to recall...
WOOOOW! multileveled forest gets me even more excited than multilevel dungeon, and nice smooth hills ... aw man. I also wish to know if those will be in the CTP initial releases for the Forest stuff.
It's really a pity it's so much harder to create tilesets than some other nwn pursuits... they add sooo much to the game, I always prefer to have good tilesets than almost any other CC.

I don't know if these tiles will be added to the ctp. I've send them last year before I leave home. At this time their was a problem of size in the forest tileset, it was a huge one with lots of add-ons.
But now, when I read that NwN 2 will got heightmaps and speedtree I feel that this modification I've made become useless.

I would not worry about a game that has not yet been released. NWN 2 will have a huge load of problems all on it's own, AND will have nowhere near as much quality work backing it up when it releases. From what Obsidian has stated, it will have fewer "sets" than the OC did for NWN, fewer creatures, fewer NPC's, and probably a shorter story line or shorter game play time.
Even though you can supposedly create your own outdoor areas, and adjust them more in game, from what I am seeing, it takes a LOT of effort to actually paint an area. IE, you have to pay MUCH more attention to detail. Details like how many trees, placed ONE at a time, is really going to slow down the building of an area. Sure, it has the potential to look better, but it will require good artistry to make it truely useful.
Besides that, there will have to be a lot of conversion going on to make existing PW's work, and SP mods, probably won't be worth the effort to try to convert over.
While tilesets are less than perfect to build with, as they are slightly more limiting in scope. Artists like you have expanded those possibilities by a HUGE amount over the lifespan of NWN 1. That work is never really wasted.
If, and that is a BIG IF, if, I were a tileset creator, and spent hours/days/weeks/months working on a set, then uploaded it to the vault, and got 10 downloads, then a month or 3 later found ONE, just ONE new module posted to the vault using my stuff, I would be truly happy.
In other words, if only one person found, and actually used what I 'created', I really could not ask for anything more. That would be my goal.
Here, as 'team lead' on CTP, well, that is the philosphy that I and the rest of the CTP are following. If we release, whenever we actually do, and ONE person actuallly finds a use for even just ONE of the tilesets that we have improved on, then our work will have been justified.
As you know Acropole, we have included many of your tiles in different sets. Your work will be seen by a large number of people. Some of them will have already seen the stuff in other 'haks' on the vault. But now, they will be able to use those new 'features/groups/terrains' in new and more imaginative ways.
Please do NOT lose faith in NWN 1. It has much more life left in it than you can possibly imagine.
New things are coming, and not just from CTP, but a large, as in HUGE amount of new content is coming. Stuff that will simply blow your mind away.
Having said that, let me repeat, don't lose faith in your works. Please, PLEASE continue. We love it here, and many, many other people have and will continue to use works released by you.
I would expect NWN 1 will live beyond NWN 2 by at the minimum a full year, but probably MUCH longer than that. It is a playable game, within a large number of computer systems. I know that I will be going back to re-play this game years from now. There are soooo many modules on the vault that I have not yet had time to look over. Many of those I have already squirreled away on CD's for when I can relax from CTP work and go play for a bit.

I don't lost faith at all. I enjoy obsidian's choice to use hieghtmap and speedtree and I can't wait to work on NwN 2.
Befor I start to work on NwN I've worked a lot on other engine and I've seen the evolution between quake 2, quake 3, doom 3, half life 2, unreal... Each time it was a plus : physics, vehicles, real time lightning, improved AI... I believe that it will be the same for NwN and NwN 2. It's a good thing in my opinion. So don't worry, my faith in NwN is better than ever, and my come back is a proof
