The Savior is here

Post by wosswald »

The atmosphere was filled with clashes of thunder and lightning. As the rain came falling down upon the Priest of Thor, his eyes began to turn white and he fell to his knees with his arms held up high to the sky, chanting to his God of Thunder. A vision of a cave entered his mind, a blurr of caverns and goblins. A brillant white doorway was focused in front of him and then he entered, there in the bowels of a cyrpt was his brother Jargo engaging a shadowy mystic figure. A pain ran through Dargos body as the Figure approached his brother. He closed his eyes breifly from the falling rain, when he wiped his eye lids and re-opened his eyes he found his brother laiding before him on the cold damp floor of the crypt. A boom of thunder awoke Dargo. There he laid in the mud and rain weak from the vision. He gradually gained his senses and realized where he laid. With a help from a tree, he pulled himself up and stood. "I must save my brother before its too late" he whispered to himself. With that he ran off into the horizon in the thunder and rain.

He awoke in fear, with a start...He paused a moment and called out his brother's name. The fire burned low and a few scant coals remained of the previous night's small inferno. Hammer in hand, he drew quietly from his bed and went again to check on his brother. Down the steps, and through the dorms, and out into the courtyard and the chill light rain of the wee hours of the morning... Across the yard in abject silence knelt Dargo, visibly swaying in silent prayer. Jargo leaned against the doorway and closed his eyes, offering up a prayer of his own to the god of thunder and lightning. "Mighty Thor, I beseech thee. Take these visions from my brother, let these foul demons of future sight haunt him no longer! I beg of you, Lord as your servant and protector of the faithful, your paladin."

A Hammerchild visited him in reverie. Ragnar spoke first his name and then his purpose: "I, Ragnar Hammerchild shall take you both to a land of suffering, a land of fear and loathing, a land in need of a saviour. Thor himself decreed this land shall be saved..." For want of a saviour, I shall send TWO!"

Ragnar then vanished from his sight. Jargo opened his eyes and found himself in his bed and Dargo across the room, snoring loudly. Was all that just a dream?

The brothers were out tending to the fields with there father on one mid-summers day. The sky was beginning to emulsify as the clouds loomed over the peaks of the mountains. The rumble of thunder was heard in the distance and bolts of ligtning danced throughtout the approaching nebula.

Then out of the plains a rider rode nearer and nearer. The rider leaving a plume of dust in his wake. Jargo was the first to see the rider approaching from the distance. He nudged his brother with the handle of the hoe to gain his attention. Jargo pointed to the plains. Dargo stopped what he was doing and looked to where is brother was pointing to. With a bink of a eye, the horse and rider was galloping through the freshly hoed field and trampling the lush vegitation. The rider stopped infront of the men and removed his hood to revel his slim and narrow face. His head of hair was only a stubble of red wiskers. His dark brown eyes peerced the light with a intense look of urgency. The rider turned sideways on his mount to open a shachle and removed a letter. The letter had the seal of Thor. A hammer with a lightning bolt on the head. The rider handed the letter to Dargo and then turned and trotted off back the way he came.

"A summons?" Jargo questioned. He casually broke the seal and unravelled the scroll. In fine elegant writing, the words of the Hammer Lord leapt out from the page: " Dargo & Jargo Lightbringer, Your presence is thusly requested in Mjolnir Hall by the end of this month. Please bring provisions and retainer for an extended stay. Lord Curate Gharold and his acolytes will care for your shrine and parish until such time as you return. Thor has a mission for you. One that cannot be taken lightly! Theodrick McIntyre - Hammer Lord" Dargo's eyes leapt into the distance, as if considering things about which the Hammer Lord did not write. "What is it, Brother?" Jargo asked after reading the summons again. "What are you considering?" Dargo smiled a knowing grin, a mischevious grin. " I knew this was coming, Jargo. Though the summons has arrived sooner, rather than later." Dargo closed his eyes in a prayer to the Lord of Thunder and Lightning.

Both twins finished their silent prayer in unison, and headed off in opposite directions. Jargo to the stables, and Dargo to their home. Within the hour, Jargo had there horses saddled and ready at the house. Dargo was bringing the first of several saddlebags of food and supplies out to the landing in front of their childhood home. As the sun sank low in the west, Lord Curate Gharold and his acolytes appeared on the horizon, making good time. The Lord Curate found the brothers mounted and waiting his arrival, and with a brief exchange the Lightbringers rode off to the north and into the darkness.

The brothers rode north to the outern reaches of Ostland to the city of Eibelstadt. The road leading into the city was made of grey stone and lined with tall buildings made of stone and wood. The "clickly, clack" of the horses shoes turned the city folks heads as the brothers approached the great temple of Thor. The brothers flung there cloaks over their shoulders as they dismounted from their horses. They handed the reens to the stable boys and proceeded to the entrance of the temple. Dargo paused in front of the magnificant temple to embrace its full glory then followed his brother inside. Inside the temple, huge wood rafters supported the grand ceiling. Hanging from the rafters gold crown chandeliers lighted the hall. Along the support pillars on each side of the temple columns of candelabrum lighted the lower areas. At the end of the isle waited Theodrick Mclntyre, the Hammer Lord. He was dressed in gold and black robes with his hood covering his head. As the brothers approached and kneeled before their Lord, the Hammer Lord pulled back his hood to reveal his aged old features. "Rise" said the Hammer Lord. "Your journey has been a long one, go to the sleeping quarters and refresh and tomorrow we will speak". With that the hammer lord turned and walked away to one of the side doors and exited.

After refreshing themselves, the brothers went into the drinking hall. The hall was filled with devoted worshippers from near and far. All of them drinking mead and ale. Giving toasts to their Divine God. The brothers sat togather at a table that was filled with happy and joyful men. Sitting at the table was a man dressed in basic clothes. He had a red beard with long braided hair that extended past his shoulders. He was of middle age and had a acent that the brothers didnt quite know. He was telling of a tale of a evil presence in the North in a City called Lapis. A lich called Ebonwraith, was all that was heard by Dargo over the noise of the hall. A tap on Dargo shoulder broke his attention of the tale. It was a young boy in cleric robes. He whispered something into Dargos ear and Dargo rose and left the table. Jargo turned and looked at his brother and shrugged his shoulders and took another drink of his mead and listened to the drunks story.

Dargo was lead into Hammer Lords personal chamber. There in a red cusioned chair by the fireplace sat the Lord. "Come Dargo and sit with me". He pointed to the chair across from him. Dargo looked at Hammer Lord and bowed before he took his seat. Dargo was about to say something but Hammer Lord cut him off. "You probably have heard the rumors in the hall of a great evil to the North. These tales are of some truth. I am sending you and Jargo to investigate this evil. If it is the lich of Ebonwraith that they speak of, then you and Jargo are to report to me and wait further instructions. Ebonwraith wrath as been felt by our people for many many years as you know all to well. We have the opportunity to put an end to Ebonwraith mence. and so we shall". I am granting you and your brother one of the five honorary titles of Thor. You and your brother shall be deemed as "Eyes of Thor" from this point forward. To aid you in your charge, I am granting you and your brother a special artifact, the Book of Valkyries, which can be used to aid you in the fight of Ebonwraith.

Dargo walked out of Hammer Lords chambers with his heart racing. The sound of thunder and the flash of lighting echoed the halls. The excitement and thrill of the chance to hunt Ebonwraith was to much. He paced faster down the halls to his and brothers bed chambers.

That night in Dargos dreams. He dreamed that he was at home with his brother and mother. The three of them were sitting by the fireplace wrapped up in blankets and eating cookies with warm milk. Jargo was sitting foward eagerly waiting to hear his mothers tale while Dargo sat crossed leg rocking back and forth smiling. Their mother began to whisper the tale of the Valkyry.

Long, long ago...In a village far far away...

Out of the clear blue sky a chariot shreked across the sky in orange and red flames. On top of the chariot was a beutiful woman with long currly blonde hair. She wore white flowing robes and a golden tierra. In her left hand she held a shimmering hammer over her head and in her right hand the reens of the chariot. The woman flew the chariot down and across the sky to a forest. A figure in the forest saw the chariot and paused then looked around. The woman landed the chariot on the forest path before the figure. She walked off the chariot before the figure and stopped. The figure kneeled before the woman and bowed his head. The beutiful woman began to speak and her voice was as soothing as a cool breeze in mid-summer day. When she spoke her voice sang in a soft mellow tone. She told the man that he was to be charged with five honorary titles from Thor but he need to earn the titles before he was gained the title.

She then took a great big leather bound book from her chariot and opened it. She read forth from the book these five honorary titles of Thor:

"Eyes of Thor" is the first honorary title of five and is the easiest to be granted. Once you come in to manhood, you are to seek out the Lord of Thor. Devote all of yourself to the goodeness of Thor and you will be ganted this title. The Lord of Thor will present to you a book. The book is called "The lore book of Valkries". It contains all the teachings of Thor and grants the owner a summons for help in a battle.

Then the woman took a small breath and looked in to the mans eyes and spoke of the second title.

"Hand of Thor" is the second honorary title of five. Once you have learned the teachings of Thor from the Lord. You will be summoned to protect and deliver the teachings of Thor. There will be less unforitunate people in the world that will need your guidance and help. Go to these people and save them from a great dispair. Teach them the word of Thor and you will be granted this title. Once this has been accomplished seek out the dwarfs to the north. They will forge you a great hammer then take the hammer to the wood elves and have them enchant it with Thors mightly power.

Then she raised her voice louder for all around to hear. The birds flew out of the trees in all directions and the insects were silent.

"Voice of Thor" is the third honorary title of five. For those you have saved. They will want to learn more of the teachings and understandings of Thor. Raise a temple in Thors name and spread his teachings to all those saved. Then you will be granted this title. Then you must head north east to the fridged mountains. In a cave, where snow and ice lay. You will find a necklace. This necklace will grant you the protection from Thor and to persuade the non-believers of Thor.

The woman lifted off the ground and hoovered above the man. She reached out with her hands and bolts of lighting shreeked across the forest. The mans hair stood on ends and pointing in every direction. His face was covered in black soot but he just stood there glazing in to her eyes.

"Hammer of Thor" is the fourth honorary title of five. A even greater darkness will overwhelm your city in which your temple has been erected. You will be charged again to save your followers. When you do, seek out the dwarfs again. They will help you in your quest. They will forge you again an even greater hammer. It will be known as "Mjolnir". Bring the hammer to the temple and lay it on the alter. You must pray and faimine for 7 days. Only then will the hammer be blessed with Thors powers.

The woman smiled and turned away. She walked slowly to her chariot and mounted it.

"Herald of Thor" is the fifth honorary tiltle and is the hardest to achieve. The day will come when I come to you and take you away on my chariot. We will fight a great battle against demons and their underlings. The Heavens will be in termoil and despair. The earth and its followers will be in grave pearil. Save the Heavens and Earth and Thor will gant you this title.

Clouds rolled across the sky. Bolts of lightning flashed in all directions. The woman spoke something and the chariot lifted off the ground and flew towards the Heavens. The rumble of thunder was heard everytime she whipped the reens. Off she flew into the distance sky and vanished not to been ever again.
