1.69 - Discuss
I am just now playing around with the 1.69 stuff so I am late to the game as usual. I just wanted to note that the 'Steamworks' tileset is quite nice, especially if you think of it as a modern tileset. The d20 folks should be all over it for use as factory basements, etc. Still playing with the other stuff. And updating my custom content to be 1.69 compliant. Oh the fun. :thumb:

That is an interesting tileset. I especially like the giant chains. Rather surreal looking in a way, and I can see doing something with that in my module. I'm just glad to get my hands on that castle tileset from WCoC finally. That seems to be the true gem of the patch, in my opinion. I may have to rebuild some of my areas with that. Horses are a nice addition too, of course.
The scaling wasn't quite what I expected. I hadn't considered the limitations of using invisible creature models, like the ghost highlight on targeting, or weapon/shield positioning. It still adds a lot of potential variety. I just added a new creature to my palette. It's called a Thunder Chicken. It's about 3 foot tall. I think I feel the urge to make some "rodents of unusual size" too, though I won't call them that. Besides creatures, there's also a lot of potential for making deities and gods, which I really like. And how about 12 foot prostitutes? Just kidding, but the fact we can do that cracks me up.

I had forgotten about Sune, though I really just meant 12 foot prostitutes, not as a deity, but I think you knew that.
My experience with Forgotten Realms deities is limited to NWN and the BG games, since all that came after my PnP days. I've been using this site: Gods of the Forgotten Realms for reference. I had forgotten about Mask, too.
I was just scrolling through all the new creature and placeable appearances more thoroughly, and I'm really impressed. The new creature selection is a little thin, not counting the horses and invisible creatures, but the placeable selection is fantastic. I'm guessing some of it is high in polygon count, like the new trees. I seemed to get lags when I was scrolling through them. I just wish some of the creature selection wasn't so recognizable, if you know what I mean, with a lot of premium module bosses or NPCs. I'd still use them. Masterius and Harat, for example, are just awesome, and I must say Harat is really impressive at 200% scaling.
