Text/Code Editors

Post by Tiberius_Morguhn »

Since almost (if not all) of the custom content I've done has been model manipulation thru the text form of the model, I thought I would share links to the two most useful text/code editors I've used. ConTEXT is my mainstay/primary but jEdit is a close second and maybe even take over for ConTEXT because of its regex abilities:

ConTEXT ---http://www.context.cx

jEdit --- http://www.jedit.org

Have you had much luck with Stilgar's plugins for jEdit? The high lighting works, but I had problems with buffer errors when trying to use the other tools.

My personal favorite has been EditPlus Text Editor.

Hmm, didn't know about Stilgars' stuff until now - will check it out. Thanks!

I've been using the Epsilon emacs editor from http://www.lugaru.com/. Not cheap (work bought mine :) ), but very extensible if you've got the patience to write rules for it (assuming the rules it already has are insufficient). I've used it for text editing, code editing, html editing, 2da editing, etc etc etc. I coded my entire personal website using Epsilon.
